Thank you for participating in the annual Get JazzED School Big Band Festival! If for some reason, you cannot participate, please inform us as soon as possible so your timeslot can be given to a band on the waiting list. Here is some general information to help with your planning…
Equipment: GetJazzED will provide a full backline (piano/keyboard, guitar/bass amps, drum set with cymbals) in both the warm-up room and on the performance stage. Both will be set up in a standard big band format and cannot be moved. If you are bringing any large items, they can be unloaded directly at the backstage entrance. Do bring your own cables and mallets.
*Doors open at 12:00 noon.
*The MIDDLE SCHOOL FESTIVAL begins at 1:00 pm with the first band rehearsing at 12:35 pm. Event ends around 4:00 pm.
*The HIGH SCHOOL FESTIVAL begins at 6:00 pm with the first band rehearsing at 5:35 pm. Event ends around 9:00 pm.
*The final rehearsal and performance times will be emailed to Directors and posted online.
Travel & Parking:
*If arriving by bus or van: Bus and van drop off is behind the Miller Center for the Arts, accessible from N. Second St. near Washington. Buses will then exit via River Road and park in the adjacent flat parking lot across the street.
*If by car: Park in the RACC parking garage. Parking is free.

Upon arrival, report directly to Schmidt Center to store belongings, cases, etc., a short walk across the courtyard from Miller Center.
Rehearsals will take place in Schmidt Center. Rehearsals are closed to the public.
Performance: Five minutes prior to your performance time, your group will be escorted to the stage left waiting area. The Emcee will announce your group. At the end of the performance, exit stage right where you’ll be escorted backstage. After storing your instrument, your group can then enter the auditorium to listen to the other groups perform.
The Awards Ceremony will be held after the performances. Bands must be present to receive awards. Awards will be given for Outstanding Sections, several Soloists of Note, one Outstanding Soloist, and one Outstanding Ensemble. Additional awards TBA.
What We Need From You: At your earliest convenience, but no later than March 1, 2022, please forward the following information to info@GetJazzEDBerkscom:

*Band personnel by section
*Repertoire in order of performance including titles, composer/arranger/transcriber, soloist names
*Program notes (under 100 words)
Tickets: Tickets for spectators will be sold at the door: $10/adults; $5/students – CASH ONLY.
Food and beverage will be made available for purchase in the lobby.
Photography: Photographs will be taken during this event. Please inform parents that if they do NOT want their child included in photographs, it is their responsibility to sign a Photography Exclusion Form and to forward it to us ASAP.
